Monday, Monday
Well, another week starts here, and oh, the excitement in prospect!
Let's start with the weekend, shall we? So what did I do? Saturday was quite busy. I went to aqua aerobics with Sue, which as usual was fun. Good exercise, and it beats pounding a treadmill any day. In addition, I get to look at lots of women in their swimming cossies, which is a bonus!
I was supposed to be going up to see Leyton Orient vs Chesterfield in round one of the FA Cup with Andy, but he called last night to say that Karen wanted to see him urgently and he had to give the game a miss. He sounded worried, I hope everything's ok.
I went to the game anyway. It must be about 4 or 5 years since I was last at Brisbane Road, and boy, has the ground changed! They aren't quite there yet, but it's improving no end. Currently, the terracing where I used to stand has gone, and a new stand will appear there. They are also building blocks of flats on each corner, there's a new reception and club shop area, and a new supporters club bar. Very posh.
So, onto the match. 0-0. A turgid first half, the second was much better. It could have gone either way... both sides missed some good chances, and each keeper pulled off one great save. A draw was a fair result. Easy to forget that O's are in fact a division below Chesterfield. But they looked good, and they look good for promotion.
O's: Garner; Miller, Mackie, Zakuani, Lockwood; Tudor, Simpson (McMahon), Easton, Keith (Carlisle); Alexander, Ibhere (Echanomi)
I was particularly impressed with the centre back, Gabriel Zakuani. He looks a great prospect. Tudor looks a tricky winger, and Craig Easton in midfield looks useful. I was very impressed with Jabo Ibhere when I saw him years back, but it seems like he isn't making as good progress as was hoped.
I enjoyed it, and it won't be five years before I go next.
In the evening, after calling at Mum's, we went to Rusty and Julien's for the annual fireworks event. Don't get me wrong... I enjoy fireworks, but 2 hours + is too much. It didn't help that one fell over and shot me in the chest. No damage done, but I consider myself lucky.
Yesterday was dull. Went into town with Sue before she headed to work at 3 and had the usual row about how difficult everything is for her. It makes me feel bad as it just shows she has no interest in me at all. I try my best to help, but not sure what I can do, if anything. She won't let me in, keeps pushing me away emotionally. It's very wearing sometimes.
Spent much of the evening online. I'd spoken to Kar on msn in the morning, and she has one or two issues. I mailed her, but sometimes I feel I can be so pompous in some of the things I say. I was hoping some of the things I said weren't too bad. I read the mail before I sent it, and it seemed ok, but I worried after. She mailed me back this morning, and there wasn't a bad reaction, so I think I'm in the clear! Hopefully, we'll get to chat this evening, and that will sort things out.
There's another session of Aqua at the gym... but Bolton vs Spurs on Sky... I think the footie will win that particular contest! If we win, back up to third behind Chelski and, can you believe it, Wigan in second! (Chelmsford won 1-0 at Margate on Saturday and leap up to 14th. Form seems pretty good... a relegation battle when they move back t0 town in the new year would be awful.)
