What to say? I'm a 42 yr old Essex guy, married to Sue and with no kids. I work locally with Royal Mail, and spend a lot of spare time online, or doing the things in the interests box. I took up golf a year ago, but I'm the worst golfer you've ever seen. Love seeing my excellent friends, Andy Jones, Amanda and Alex, Neil and Hil and Keith and the boys. Love chatting on-line to my great pal Kar.

Getting Better All the Time

Well, things are much better than they were on Monday. Was obviously in a delicate mood when I wrote that. Nothing like over reacting is there. As usual, many thanks to Kar for helping me see a little sense. (She's great, but I feel guilty about my outpouring of nonsense to her in an email earlier in the week.)

So, what's new? Had a hair cut last night... Sue more or less frogmarched me to the barbers after work. (I thoroughly recommend 'The Cutting Station', by the station at Chelmsford for a good shear.) I look exceedingly handsome now of course (I wish!) although the guy that cut my hair didn't manage to get rid of the grey. But, well, I'm 40 and have a full head of hair, so I shouldn't be complaining at a few grey hairs should I?

We were planning to go to aqua aerobics at Canons last night, but Sue forgot to pack my swimming shorts, so we went to Pizza Hut instead. I know, I know... not quite the same is it! But I could hardly do aqua naked could I? I look scary enough with the shorts, never mind without them. Shame, I quite like doing the aqua, it's good exercise without the raging boredom I feel on a treadmill or rowing machine. There's a session on Saturday morning, and I'd quite like to get to that.

I got a few matches played on 'Football Manager 2006' when I got home. My first game on a new Football/Championship Manager is usually taking charge of Leyton Orient. I did the same here, resigned when I got into trouble and took over at Worcester City. I guided them to 2nd place in the Conference North (losing in the Play offs.) In season 2, I'm currently about to play in the 1st round proper of the FA Cup, and am within shouting distance of automatic promotion. Good stuff... addictive and fun. Also looking forward to the release of 'The Movies' pc game shortly, as I'd love to be a movie mogul too. (It's on my Crimbo pressie list, hint hint!)

The real footie was fun too... Charlton knocked the mighty Chelsea out of the League Cup on penalties, and Newcastle stopped Spurs' conquerors Grimsby Town in their tracks, though Shearer had a bit of a whinge after getting whacked in the mouth. He can dish it out, but he can't take it. Bit gutted that Motherwell went down 0-5 at Celtic. Seems like when they lose, they do it in style. They've a couple of home games coming up, so they could improve things then. Then, the League Cup game at home to Aberdeen. They'll be ok, I'm sure.

I'm having second thoughts about the car. There's been a lot on the news today about the environment, mainly due to some ill thought out and immensely hypocrytical comments by HRH Prince Big Ears. (Ooops, there goes my MBE!) But I don't think, as a household, Sue and I can justify having two cars. I don't need one really, do I? I can just make arrangements to get behind the wheel of the Yaris, and we can share. Lots to think about isn't there?

At the weekend, there's the signing at the Excel centre. I'm going on Sunday so I can meet Michael Shanks. Also hoping to meet the wonderful Jeff Coombs, Bruce Boxleitner, Bernard Hill and Elizabeth Rohm. (Feck, just seen on the website that Elizabeth Rohm is only there on Saturday, so Shanks or Rohm? It has to be Saturday then, I'm afraid. As much as I'm enjoying Stargate, I'm more of an Angel fan. Plus, she's much better looking!)

Right... back from lunch. Obvious that the summer lull is well over here... it's going to be hectic until Christmas now. Well, makes no difference to me really, as I have the same things to do, busy or quiet. Just makes things a little noisier around here.

I've just had a very nice Beef Bourginion from Sainsburys, and looking forward to chomping my fresh mango chunks. Managed to keep away from the cd/dvd section today, so I've done pretty well.

Another boring week ahead.

Another week ahead. Not on top form here at the moment I'm afraid as things aren't feeling so good at home right now, but I'm not going to bore you with all the details. I'm putting it down to the antibiotics I've been on for my dodgy tooth/abcess. The tooth is pretty much back to normal now, but I'm feeling a bit down.

A few weeks to go to Susan and Richards wedding, and I've had to splash out on a new suit after some of our insectoid friends have had a feast on my trousers. Still, now I look a picture of sartorial elegance, and will doubtless have the girls falling at my feet when I wear it. As long as I get my tramp-like hair cut, and have a shave! (But the barbers I use is closed on Monday's so I'm stuck today. Grrrr!)

Just done Ken Bruce's Pop Master quiz on Radio 2, and got a maximum 39! Wihoo! Shame my brain is full of complete crap, and never anything useful.

And just for the record, I managed to keep my wallet in my pocket over the weekend, and didn't succumb to the cd/dvd temptation. Although the local Sports Soccer shop is closing down, and I got an England shirt for £11.99. A bargain, I think.

So, weekend footie... a draw for Spurs at Old Trafford keeps my boys in 3rd place. Third... can't believe it! 29 games to go yet, so plenty of opportunities to slip up! Great free kick from Jenas... he's settling in nicely now. If we can beat the Arse next weekend, I'll believe we can get a European place after all. O's got an excellent win at Grimsby, which gives them second place in League Two, although Alexander's run is over. Shame Motherwell went down at Rangers... I had hoped for something there, given Rangers recent form, but it wasn't to be. 0-2. Chelmsford City got a win too, but remain in 20th, but the form looks good and I'm sure they'll be moving up the table before long.

I'd better make a move and do some work. Covering some of Nick's job too, today, so I have a bit more to do.

Keep me out of Sainsburys!

Aaaagh! Fresh from receiving my copy of the new Saw Doctor's album 'The Cure' on Wednesday evening, I was in Sainsbury's yesterday lunchtime. (Nice sun dried tomato soup in the canteen though!) Damn their DVD offers... they had the 3 for £20 deal up again and I was suckered into it. I picked up 'The Iron Giant', 'The Usual Suspects' and '13 Going On 30'. (Jennifer Garner... mmmm!) To make matters worse, they also had Sam Raimi's remake of 'The Grudge' for under a fiver, so a can scare myself before Halloween, and enjoy watching the lovely Sarah Michelle Gellar. The next step is to find somewhere decent to store all the wretched things. Sue must hate being married to this particular magpie. I do love those shiny discs, of all kinds!

Not much else has been going down in this bloggers world the last day or so. A couple of early nights have been welcome and, for a change, I'm feeling pretty much alert. Gave Zoe the deposit for our Christmas do at the Chicago Rock Cafe in December, and I'm looking forward to that. I just hope I behave myself! A couple of pints, and I'm anyone's!

Better go... work awaits. At least I'm being kept out of mischief!

Greetings from a Blogging Virgin

Hi! My first attempt at a blog, and not really sure what to write at the moment. I shouldn't be writing anything right now as I'm at work and should be concentrating on other things I suppose. However, I've got a quiet five minutes, and thought I'd give it a go.

Not a lot of news to report, though last night I did go and see the Wallace and Gromitt movie. Good fun, a lot of funny lines, but a bit predictable, and, in my opinion, it didn't work as well as the tight, short movies that introduced us to those wonderful characters.

Been catching up too on season two of 'The 4400'. An excellent show. The season two pilot featured two of my favourites in guesting roles, Jeffrey Combs from various incarnations of Star Trek (Weyoun/Brunt in 'DS9' and Shran in 'Enterprise') and the gorgeous, wonderful Summer Glau from 'Firefly' and the excellent 'Serenity' movie.

Nice footie news too... my second fave team, Leyton Orient, found their way through to round two of the LDV Trophy, beating Yeovil 2-0. Alexander scored his 10th goal in 9 games, and has scored in every one of those games. Way to go, O's.

Better go... sounds like there's some work to do.

Take care,

Andy
